Liberty is one of London's most loved department stores.

Liberty started as a small shop on Regent Street in 1875 and was founded by Arthur Lasenby Liberty. The store initially imported goods from the Far East and soon became popular for it's fashionable and notably beautiful fabrics, that are still today as popular as they were in the beginning. The high quality textiles that Liberty produce are world famous and are known a "Liberty Art Fabrics".
In the 1930's the then Liberty cotton buyer William Hayes Dorell helped establish a new Liberty signature, Tana Lawn Cotton. The ground breaking product was named after the Lake Tana Ethiopia where its unique long staple cotton fibres originated. The prints today are designed by Liberty's in house studio artists, then printed at Liberty's own Italian Mill.
